Ms. Yejide “Deborah” Idowu Oladele, 73, our beloved mother, sister, aunty, and great-aunty went home to be with the Lord on September 30, 2026, in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA. She was born on February 26, 1954, in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria and she was the daughter of the late Mr. Nathaniel Olatunji Oladele and Mrs. Esther Olalounpe Oladele (nee Dairo).
Ms. Deborah dedicated more than 35 years of her life to nursing, serving others with compassion and care. She began her nursing career in Nigeria, working at University College Hospital (UCH) and Ife General Hospital. After relocating to the United States, she continued her calling in nursing working in various settings including private-duty, nursing homes, and rehabilitation centers in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas. She graduated from the University College Hospital School of Nursing in 1973 and became a registered nurse. She later earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Eastern University in 2003. She also pursued Biblical studies at the Deliverance Evangelistic Church Bible Institute and Calvary Baptist Church Seminary.
Faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of Ms. Deborah's life. She gave her life to the Lord Jesus at an early age and grew fervent in her faith throughout her teenage years and adulthood. She encouraged family and friends to strengthen their own walk with Christ and was actively involved in church life. Her church membership included Oritamefa Baptist Church in Ibadan, Nigeria, Deliverance Evangelistic Church in Philadelphia, and LCBC (Lives Changed By Christ) Church in Harleysville. She especially enjoyed singing in the choir, participating in evangelism, and serving on mission trips to Haiti.
Outside of her nursing and church activities, Ms. Deborah enjoyed singing, reading, crocheting, sewing, collecting dolls, and shopping. Her wonderful sense of humor brought joy to everyday moments. All those who knew her will lovingly remember her unwavering faith, generous spirit, dedication to helping and praying for others, joyful humor, and contagious laughter.
She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Abiola Laniya, of USA; her brother, Reverend Dr. Olufemi Oladele, of Nigeria; her brother, Dr. Edward Oladele, and his wife, Mrs. Gladys Oladele, of USA; her sister-in-law, Mrs. Bisi Oladele of Nigeria; her sister, Pastor Taiwo Adisa, and her husband, Mr. Segun Adisa, of Nigeria, and her brother, Mr. Abimbola Oladele, of United Kingdom. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and an extended family spanning Nigeria, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Dubai.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Elder Kehinde Victor Oladele, her brother in-law, Mr. Olatunde Laniya, and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Ebunoluwa Oladele.
Though our hearts ache at Ms. Deborah’s absence, we are deeply grateful to God for the gift of her life, so faithfully lived for His glory. May her soul rest in peace until we meet again at Jesus’ feet. Amen.
