Obituary

William E. Hammerschmidt, age 80, of Port St. Lucie, Fl and Souderton, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at his residence in Florida. He was the beloved husband of Marla Hammerschmidt.

Born February 4, 1941, he was the son of the late William D and Marjorie (Willis) Hammerschmidt.

Bill was a graduate of Pennridge High school class of 1958 and Temple University School of Pharmacy, 1962. Not long after graduating, he worked for Lemmon Pharmaceutical as Director of Laboratories in Portland, Oregon. Upon returning to Pennsylvania with his young family, he worked at Quakertown Drug and Hunsicker's Pharmacy until opening Indian Valley Pharmacy in Telford from 1980-1999. He later co- owned Southwest Images with his wife Marla. Upon retiring, Bill embarked on yet another career as a realtor in Key West Florida.

Bill spent much of his life traveling and camping throughout the country. His later travels involved collecting Native American artifacts and spending a great deal of time visiting various reservations and fostering new friendships.

A man of many hobbies, Bill collected stamps and coins, enjoyed snowmobiling, and having yard sales. He was an avid reader who enjoyed History, mystery and crime novels.

Throughout his life, he was always drawn to water and enjoyed boating, fishing with his friends and brothers in law, scuba diving and snorkeling.

He enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren, was a great listener and conversationalist, quick witted and often had a funny story, joke or favorite movie line to insert into any conversation. In that spirit, we welcome friends and family to share a story or two during his Celebration of Life Service.

In addition to his wife Marla, he is survived by his children, Laura Richart and her husband, Jeffrey, David Hammerschmidt and his wife, Karen, Traci Munsell and Daniel Hammerschmidt; daughter-in-law, Sandra Berry; grandchildren, Jessie Hophan and her husband, Lawrence, Taylor Richart, Judson Munsell, Bailey Humlhanz and her husband, Dylan, Dayne Hammerschmidt, Joe Gillice and his wife, Holly, Frank Rota and his wife, Stephanie, and Shyanna, Nicholas and Monica Uhran; great grandchildren, Frank Rota, and Sydney and William Gillice; sister, Linda Miller and her husband, Dennis; nieces and nephews, Kathy Super, Robert Super and his wife, Heather, Amanda, Christine, Laura and Dennis, Jr. Miller; former spouse, Patricia (Mullen) Hammerschmidt; and many beloved cousins including Rusty Hammerschmidt-Nyborg and Bruce Jordan. He was preceded in death by sons, Ronald and Adam Berry and daughter-in-law, Victoria Hammerschmidt.
