Thomas J. Creachen, III, "Tommy", 50, of Harleysville, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2023. He was the husband of Donna J. (Witts) Creachen and father of Kyle T. Creachen.
Words cannot describe the kind of son, brother, uncle, husband and father Tommy was, planning every detail of everything we did, making the most of every laughter-filled moment. Tommy was the most peaceful, thoughtful, kind, funny and giving person.
Tommy was born on June 16, 1973, at Nazareth Hospital. He was the son of Teresa M. Creachen and the late Thomas J. Creachen, Jr. He grew up in NE Philadelphia with two crazy brothers, Chris and Greg, loving aunts, uncles, many cousins, and a great bunch of fun-loving friends.
He attended Christ the King grade school and was a graduate of Archbishop Ryan High School, class of 1991 and was a 1996 graduate of Drexel University where he studied accounting.
Tommy's path upon graduating led him to become a Special Agent for the Criminal Investigation Division of the IRS, and eventually, Supervisory Special Agent-Computer Investigative Specialist. In addition to other leadership roles during his career, he was a Use of Force/Firearms Instructor and a mentor to new CISs. Tommy loved the work he did in Digital Forensics, but much more, he loved his incredible CI family. They were such a huge part of Tommy's life.
Tommy first met his wife Donna in January of 1995 at The Barn (a dance club in NE Phila.). A short time later mutual friends were having a party where the two started talking (it was really a set up), and the rest is history. They celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary on June 17th. The undeniable best part of their marriage was having their son, Kyle Thomas.
From before Kyle was even born, he was Tommy's whole world. Everything Tommy planned and did was always with and for Kyle and it was filled with happiness and laughter. From piggy back and shoulder rides, to building sand castles and playing with Legos and nerf guns in the yard, to zoo trips and vacations, to becoming a Scout Master for Troop 91 and helping Kyle along his journey to Eagle Scout, to working on cars together, and even just working on projects around the house, to planning for Kyle's future, Tommy was honored and proud and loved every second of it all.
Tommy was always smiling and man he was funny! He loved to laugh, and he loved to make others laugh! Oh, how his shoulders would shake when he busted out a one liner and cracked himself and everyone around him up! He would do anything for anyone. Tommy loved just spending time with his family, firepits and restaurants were always spur of the moment. He loved playing baseball, hockey, skiing, and all things Philly Sports, especially the E-A-G-L-E-S! He was excellent at rollerblading and ice skating. He LOVED the beach. Big family vacations to Wildwood, NJ, with the water park and boardwalk rides; as well as Ocean City, MD, where he played in the sand with Kyle and watched him learn to hoverboard and surf, were a must for years. Our day trips to Cape May, just to put our feet in the sand and feel the ocean, meant everything. It never mattered what the three of us we were doing; from our trips to Georgia and Disney when Kyle was young, to our cruises, to walking around Longwood Gardens, to our future plans and dreams, we did everything together and we still do and forever will. He is always with us.
Tommy is survived by his wife Donna and son Kyle (and their dog Scamper), his mother Teresa (late Thomas), brothers Christopher (Heather) and Gregory (Theresa Palmer); cherished uncle of Christopher, Jr., Layla and Savahna; sister-in-law Carolynn Strackhouse (Arthur), and mother-in-law Kathleen M. Witts (late John).
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Tommy's life will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, June 27, at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 40 Spring Mount Road, Schwenksville, 19473, where the family will receive friends from 10 AM – 12:45 PM. Interment will be in St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont.
