Theresa Kyran Coyle, age 75, of Hatboro, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at home surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Tad Byrne.
Born January 14, 1949, in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Artillio and Catherine (Toner) Alleva.
Theresa grew up in Philadelphia, attending Catholic grade school and high school. She went on to Misericordia Hospital School of Nursing, qualifying as a Registered Nurse (RN) in 1970. Over her lifetime she worked at Riddle Memorial Hospital, did private duty community nursing, and medical coding.
When asked recently what her main interests and passions in life were, Theresa responded immediately, "My faith in God, and my family", followed closely by her friends. Ever since Theresa came to know Jesus as her personal Savior, Lord, and friend, He has been the center of her life and her sure hope. God and people were her passion, and she gently shared the love and hope she had found in Christ with everyone that God brought across her path. Theresa was a persistent intercessor, prayer warrior and worshiper of Jesus. She was wholeheartedly involved in her various church communities, particularly in any initiatives to help people who were less fortunate. She led a church team in Chosen 300 ministries feeding the hungry in Pottstown for some years. Theresa went on a couple missions' trips to Mexico and Tajikistan. She was a generous person, giving joyfully to bless others. She was steadfast in her faith to the end.
Her children describe her as a loving and dedicated Mom and wonderful grandma, known affectionately as Mom-mom, "There was nothing she wouldn't do for us, her grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was our cheer leader and advocate, our prayer covering and encourager." Her regular care for her grandchildren when they were young has been a huge investment into their lives. Theresa liked to have fun and to laugh. She loved dancing, the Mummers, the Jersey Shore, and the Thanksgiving Day Parade. She enjoyed Italian food and ice cream, and hosting people in her home.
Theresa was a loyal, true friend, especially in life's hardest times. Out of her own suffering and tragedies, which she endured with courage, she became a beautiful instrument of help and healing to many people. She had a kind heart full of compassion, and her compassion had feet on it; she faithfully visited and called, listened, prayed, encouraged, and supported a multitude of individuals during her life. Although our hearts are encouraged with the thought that she has now joined the worship and intercession of Heaven, she will be sorely missed.
Theresa is survived by her children Michael Byrne and his wife Drena, Jennifer Reath and her husband Jim, Maria Alleva and her husband Troy Newton; grandchildren Jimmy Reath and Sebastian Newton; sister Maria Richman and her husband Steve; and Aunt Fay Berg; sisters-in-law Angie Alleva, Rita Byrne Richardson and her husband Tom, Barbara Byrne Notte and her husband John. She is also survived by many nieces,
nephews, and extended family members.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter Hayley Reath; sisters Mary Raciti and her husband Alfred, Ann Donatelli and her husband Rocco; brother Christopher Alleva; brother-in-law Sarge Byrne; and nephews Alfred Raciti Jr and Joseph Raciti.
