Theodore (Ted) Joseph Ziegler, Sr., 90, of Harleysville, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 6, 2026 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia Ziegler (Piela).
Born in Baltimore, MD, and raised in Milmont Park, PA, he was the son of the late Henry and Mary Ziegler. He was a graduate of Ridley High School, Class of 1953, and later graduated from Pennsylvania Military College (Widener University) in 1968.
Theodore worked for Sun Ship – Wetherill Plant, Scott Paper, Tarkett, and Simpson Paper during his career. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Bishop Thomas Welsh Assembly #931 Knights of Columbus in Allentown, PA.
An avid outdoorsman, Theodore enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golf. He pitched in several slow-pitch softball leagues in Delaware County and was a member of the Delco Dart League. He also enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and attending his grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's sporting events and activities. He was a devoted Philadelphia sports fan, cheering for the Phillies, Eagles, Penn State, and Villanova. He was also a supporter of Boy Scout Troop 43 in Woodlyn, PA.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three sons: Teddy Ziegler, Jr. (Jackie), Dave Ziegler, Sr. (Dona), and Ronnie Ziegler (Joanie); six grandchildren: Tamilee (Phil), Renee (Leon), Amanda, David Jr. (Amanda), Gabrielle, and Benjamin; and seven great-grandchildren: Caden, Brianna, Faith, Charlie, Trey, Stella, and Brett; and brother-in-law Joe Piela (Betty Ann).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Henry Ziegler, Jr., sister-in-law, Judy Ziegler, father-in-law and mother-in-law Joseph and Sophie Piela, and brother-in-law, Eddie Piela.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 13, at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 1601 Derstine Road, Hatfield, PA 19440. A public viewing will be held from 10:00 to 10:45 AM at the church prior to Mass. Interment will follow at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
