The Rev. John R. Coble, Jr., 91, of Harleysville, PA, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2024. He and his wife, Patricia Ann (Seaman) Coble, observed their 63rd wedding anniversary on August 26th of this year. They were former long-time residents of Bethlehem, PA.

Born November 19, 1933, in Lebanon, PA, he was a son of the late John R. Coble, Sr. and Pauline (Whitman) Coble. He was a 1951 graduate of Lebanon High School.

Rev. Coble worked for a period of time as a payroll clerk for Calcite Quarries in Myerstown, PA, before serving in the U. S. Army and being stationed in Mannheim, Germany. He then earned his bachelor's degree in commerce/accounting from Rider College in 1960. In 1963, he graduated from the Philadelphia Divinity School. He was ordained a Deacon June 15, 1963, at the Cathedral Church in Bethlehem, PA, and ordained a Priest on March 7, 1964, at the Church of the Mediator in Allentown, PA. Rev. Coble served as Rector at several churches including Christ Episcopal Church of Frackville, PA, St. James' Episcopal Church of Schuylkill Haven, PA, St. George's Episcopal Church of Hellertown, PA, and Trinity Episcopal Church of Bethlehem, PA. He served as Canon to the Ordinary and Archdeacon of the Diocese of Bethlehem, PA.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, David Michael Coble of Bethlehem, PA; and a brother, The Rev. Robert H. Coble and his wife, Barbara A., of Harleysville, PA.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Maryann Coble.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 10 am on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Church of the Holy Spirit, 2871 Barndt Road, Harleysville, PA, 19438, where family will receive friends for his viewing beginning at 9:30 am. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Memorial Park. For those desiring, contributions may be made in his memory to St. George's Episcopal Church, 735 Delaware Avenue, Hellertown, PA 18055.
