Obituary

Teresa Tanska, 82, of Quakertown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Born on August 5, 1943, in Poland, Teresa was one of ten siblings. She grew up in a large, close-knit family where resilience, generosity, and deep love for one another were simply a way of life-values she carried with her and passed on to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Teresa spent most of her early years in Starogard Gdański, Poland, where she devoted herself to caring for children. As both a teacher and the director of a day care center, she shaped young lives with patience, kindness, and an open heart. In 1988, with extraordinary courage and an unshakable hope for a better future, Teresa made the life‑changing decision to emigrate to the United States with her three daughters. Together, they settled in the Montgomery County, Pennsylvania area.

In the United States, Teresa continued her lifelong calling of caring for others. She worked for many years at Pine Run Senior Community in Doylestown and later at Peter Becker Senior Community in Harleysville. There, her gentle spirit, compassion, and quiet strength touched the lives of residents and coworkers alike. Caring for people was never just her job, it was who she was.

Teresa had a rare and effortless gift: she brought light wherever she went. She didn't simply enter a room, she filled it with warmth. She had a way of making each person feel truly seen, valued, and cared for, as if they were the most important person in that moment. Selfless to her core, Teresa lived by the quiet belief that others should always come first. Her legacy is not measured in titles or achievements, but in the countless lives made better simply because she was part of them.

She found joy in dancing, in long conversations with family and friends, and in filling her home with the comforting aromas of her cooking. Teresa loved discovering new recipes, often jotting them down with excitement while watching her favorite cooking shows. Above all else, Teresa devoted her life to her three daughters and treasured her role as a loving and devoted grandmother.

Teresa will be remembered most for her caring heart and the way she made people feel safe, loved, and uplifted simply by being near her. Her love lives on in all who were blessed to know her.

Teresa is survived by her husband, Edmund Tanski; her daughters, Malgorzata Gedek (husband Arek), Joanna Lamelza (husband Chad), and Alina Grondalski (husband Eric); and her beloved grandchildren, Dominik Gedek, Dylan Lamelza, Bianna Lamelza, and Jack Grondalski. She is also survived by her siblings, Lidia Rosani, Ryszard Hoffmann, and Luta Bednarz.
