Stephen Brooks Knowlton III lost a hard-fought battle with cancer on September 23, 2024, at home in Perkasie, Pennsylvania, surrounded by his wife and daughters.
Steve was born on April 7, 1959, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to his parents, Jacquelyn (Wentz) Knowlton, of Blue Hill, ME, and the late Stephen Brooks Knowlton, Jr. He was raised in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area with his younger sister, Sheryl. He graduated from Abington Friends School, then went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts from Earlham College and his Master of Arts from Saint Louis University, both in American Studies. Throughout his much-enjoyed career, he was a jack of all trades, holding positions in communications, teaching, coaching, marketing, development, and writing. Some of his writings can be found at https://sknowlton3.wordpress.com/
Steve was an avid writer and spent several years writing multiple books for his own enjoyment, including his final book given exclusively to his family, of which he was very proud. He was a devoted yet begrudging fan of Philadelphia sports teams, and an even bigger fan of the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs, for which he was a season ticket holder for many years. He enjoyed biking, hiking, playing and coaching soccer, attending shows at the Sellersville Theater, and spending time with his family.
Steve loved to cook. He most enjoyed cooking Thanksgiving feast for his family and any friends of friends who needed a place to celebrate. He was always very proud to experiment on how to cook his 20+ pound turkey every year.
Steve is survived by his wife, Kathy (Diehl) Knowlton; and his two daughters, Lindsay (Chris) Raynes of Collegeville, Pennsylvania, and Brianna Knowlton of Washington, D.C. He is also survived by two stepdaughters, Morgan (Tyler) Victorious of Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, and Juliana Krout of Perkasie, Pennsylvania. Steve had five beloved grandchildren who always brought him immense joy: Lily (age 9), Samantha (age 7), Charlie (age 4), Leif (age 7), and Philippa (age 3). He is also survived by his mother and his sister, Sheryl (Chip) Cochrane of Deer Isle, Maine. As a life-long cat and pet lover, we would be remiss to not mention his surviving pets, his two cats, Bella and Prada, and dog, Indie.
He was predeceased by his late wife, Nicolina Mary (Ciliberto) Knowlton of Maida, Italy, and his father.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Steve's name can be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org .
