Sonia Lee Alderfer, age 87, of Harleysville, passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022. She was the beloved wife of the late Murray Y. Alderfer, with whom she shared over 66 years of marriage.

Born October 13, 1934, in Souderton, she was a daughter of the late Edwin Allen and Jennie (Stover) Weidman.

Sonia was a graduate of Souderton High School Class of 1952. She was employed by Lutheran Community at Telford and later at Souderton Mennonite Homes. Sonia enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, camping, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church, volunteering her time in many different areas. Her love was her family, and she cherished the times they spent together.

She is survived by her sons, Todd A. Alderfer and his wife, Terry, of Gilbertsville PA, Thomas M. Alderfer and his wife, Marci, of Macungie PA, and Jamie L. Alderfer and his wife, Cindy, of Barto PA; seven grandchildren, Matthew and his wife Rachel, Nicole and her husband Paul, Jonathan and his fiancé Ashley, Jason and his wife Jaime, Cara and her husband Kory, Tiffany and Ethan and his girlfriend Emily; four great-grandchildren, Rylen, Xavier, Everett and Annabelle; and sister, Cleta L. Eisenhauer of Telford PA. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joel E. Weidman.

Services for Sonia will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday February 5, 2022, at Grace United Methodist Church, 295 South Main Street, Telford, PA 18969, where the family will greet guests from 9:45 – 10:45 AM. Interment will be private.

The family respectfully asks that guests please wear masks while at church.
