Shirley M. Balzer, 97, of Telford, formerly of Easton, PA, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.

Born in Easton, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Nellie Mertz.  She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters – Arlene (Rinker), Elwood, Harry, Naomi (Hoffstadt), Leatrice (Hutchison) and Jack.

Shirley graduated from Wilson Borough High School, class of '44.

She worked as a secretary for Walter Beam Accounting and Campbell, and  Rappold and Yurasitis Accountants.

Shirley was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Easton.  She enjoyed po-ke-mo, word puzzles, games and TV game shows.  She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels in Northampton County.

She is survived by her son, George F. Balzer and his wife Catherine S. of Telford, two granddaughters Jennica Ross and her husband Eliot of Jersey City, NJ and Kirsten Miniscalco and her husband Henry of Collegeville, PA and four great-grandchildren Henry George, Clementine, Logan and Penelope.

A graveside service for Shirley will take place on February 21, 12:30 at the Northampton Memorial Shrine, 3051 Green Pond Rd, Easton, PA 18045.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Community at Telford Benevolent Fund, 12 Lutheran Home Drive, Telford, PA 18969.
