Obituary

Sharon Ann Watters, age 80, of Harleysville, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024. She was the beloved wife of Dan S. Watters, with whom she shared over 59 years of marriage.

Born February 6, 1944, in Easton, she was a daughter of the late Pierini and Emma (Jones) Torquati.

Sharon had a remarkably varied work history. Despite her stature, Sharon was larger than life and fearless. She was one of the only women to handle a jackhammer-almost the size of her-at Bethlehem Steel. She also regularly used an acetylene torch to cut massive pieces of steel while employed at the steel company. Sharon was a representative for a restaurant equipment manufacturer and traveled the United States promoting their products. Sharon was an advocate for SOLVE, a save our environment group, donating time and talent for many years. Sharon also found great success in her position at AT&T, becoming a sales manager. And, in retirement she worked for the Post Office as a substitute mail carrier.

Aside from her professional life her truest talent and generosity was with welcoming people in her home, cooking lavish meals and baking for others. Coming to dinner was an event! Her baking, especially the dozens of pies she brought to Thanksgiving dinner, will be hard to duplicate! Sharon enjoyed extensive travel, visiting many countries in most of the continents around the world. Easy to talk to, with a smile for everyone and always eager to help someone; Sharon made friends everywhere she went. Over the years she opened her heart and her home to several people in distress, taking them into her home and providing an environment to help get them back on their feet.

She and Dan loved long drives with the top down in her convertible. Sharon will be most remembered for her dedication to her husband and family. The grandkids remember the 'days out with Grammy' and adventurous trips with laughs and smiles. She made every encounter with them very special. Sharon was truly selfless and will be sorely missed.

In addition to her husband Dan, she is survived by her sons Daniel Watters and his wife Laraine, Ross Watters and his wife Lori, grandchildren Emma, Sebastian, Amber, Owen and Rachel Watters.

She was preceded in death by her brother Robert Torquati.

Services for Sharon will be Private.
