Sarah was the seventh born of eight children on a farm located in Hatfield, Pennsylvania, to the late Clayton C. and the late Lillie Hagey Moyer. She was the loving wife of Abram Clemens Landes having recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Sarah was an employee of a telephone company and Hatfield Packing Company, presently known as Clemens Food Group.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Abram Bradley and his wife, Mary Jane Landes, of Green Lane, PA; and a daughter, Jill A. and her husband, Michael D. Souder of North Chesterfield, VA; 4 grandchildren: Abram Eric and his wife, Nina C. Landes of Springfield, VA, Andrew Clayton Landes of Westtown, PA, and Emily J. and her husband, Christopher Nelson of North Chesterfield, VA; and 5 great-grandchildren. She was an active member of Zion Mennonite church and participated in the choir, arranged bouquets for church events, and made her infamously popular tomato soup.
Sarah spoke softly and sparingly, but with honesty and good intent. Her culinary excellence was widely appreciated by visitors, family members, and exchange students. Her baking was recently awarded a first-place blue-ribbon for her apple pie. Some of her favorite pastimes included quilting, gardening, swimming, cross country skiing, traveling abroad to more than 22 countries, and hosting many international exchange students.
