Sara Kathryn "Kass" Landis, 90, of Souderton, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2022, at Souderton Mennonite Homes, where she was a resident.
Born and raised on their family farm in Harleysville, she was a daughter of the late Elias N. and Sallie (Alderfer) Landis.
Kass was a member of Salford Mennonite Church. Her Christian faith and her trust in Jesus were very important to her, and she lived to serve others. In her younger years she enjoyed teaching children in Sunday School and Summer Bible School.
Kass had started her career in food at Alderfer Bakery and then worked in the kitchen at Christopher Dock Mennonite High School, alongside her sister Emma for many years. Kass enjoyed baking cinnamon buns and breads, which were her specialty. She always strived for perfection in all that she did.
Kass enjoyed gardening and took great pride in her beautiful flowerbeds and rock garden. One of the highlights next to her rock garden was the hen & chicks she planted in different old pairs of shoes. She had an extensive doll collection that she enjoyed sharing their names and stories with many visitors. Kass also spent a lot of time doing a variety of jigsaw puzzles and loved spending time with her 38 nieces and nephews, as well as their children and grandchildren.
Kass is survived by her siblings, Mary Jane Bergey and husband Robert of Bethlehem, Ruth L. Ruth and husband John of Souderton, and James Landis and wife Beverly of Coopersburg; and a sister-in-law, Glenda Landis of Souderton. Kass was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings: Emma Landis, Curtis and wife Betty Landis, Abram and wife Grace Landis, Betty and husband Royden Landes, Melvin and wife Esther Landis, Doris and husband Richard Landis, Elias A. (JR) Landis, and Susan and husband John Merrill Souder.
A memorial service for Kass will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, August 28, at Salford Mennonite Church, 480 Groff Mill Road, Harleysville, 19438. Visitation with the family will be held immediately following the service. A private family graveside service will take place at Salford Mennonite Church Cemetery.
Contributions in Kass's memory can be made to Living Branches Foundation, Souderton Mennonite Agape Fund, 275 Dock Drive, Lansdale, PA 19446.
