It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Roy Henry Lomas, Sr. age 95, of Souderton, Pennsylvania. Roy passed away on Monday, November 3rd, 2025. He was born on August 10th, 1930 to the late Godfrey & Ruth Lomas in Easton, Pennsylvania. He was a thoughtful husband, hard- working father, and a pillar of his community.
When Roy was young, he was an excellent athlete and was invited to spring training by the Philadelphia A's. Roy also played semi- professional football for the Frankford Yellow Jackets. After sports, he married his wife Alma Zappala, and they were married for 73 years. They settled down in Germantown, Philadelphia.
For a short time, they opened up a delicatessen in North East Philadelphia, where he grew up. From there, Roy wanted to learn a trade to make more money for his upcoming family. In 1956, Roy opened up his own carpet installation shop out of his basement in Germantown, Philadelphia. He serviced the Philadelphia area for years. In 1972 he moved his family and the business to Harleysville, Pennsylvania where Roy Lomas Carpets & Hardwood Flooring is today servicing the Tri-State Area.
Roy's main hobby was his love for horse racing. Roy had many thoroughbred horses that ran in multi states with over a 100 winning races. Roy also loved football. He was an avid fan, and ticket holder of the Philadelphia Eagles for many years.
Roy was known to be very generous with his children and grandchildren. He would help any member of his family and friends when needed.
Roy is survived by his 3 children, Roy Lomas, Jr. (Deanna), Rhonda Rotzell, and Rita Feldman (Ron), 9 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Alma, his 2 brothers, Francis and Norman, his sister Arlene, and his parents Godfrey and Ruth Lomas. He will be missed by his family, friends and community.
