Obituary

Ronald A. Duch, 89, of Harleysville, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at St. Luke's Hospital Upper Bucks Campus in Quakertown. He was the beloved husband of Eleonore (Fiutak) Duch to whom he was married for over 67 years.

Born May 8, 1934, in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Raymond and Irene (Widzinski) Duch. Mr. Duch earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from Canisius College. He also served his country in the United States Army.

Ron and his bride, Ellie, lived in five states before settling in Pennsylvania. Ron's work as a computer auditor took him traveling domestically as well as in Europe and South America. His three children were swimmers, and Ron was very involved with the swimming programs, from being a head starter/referee and president of the Parent's Swim Association to driving the YMCA bus to the weekly swim meets. Ron's early retirement provided him the time to serve at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in many ways. He and Ellie taught Confirmation classes for several years. Ron was a Eucharistic Minister. He also led a Scripture Class, which was truly his passion. Most of all, Ron loved his family: his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He had a great sense of humor, always willing to tell a good story, and always available to help with questions about theology or computer issues, or to babysit. Ron was a cat with many more than nine lives, having survived many medical issues over the past 37 years. His faith and his wife kept him alive well beyond what was ever expected, and all are grateful for the time spent with him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Denise Duch Widzgowski and her husband, Thomas, of West Palm Beach, FL., Dr. Peter M Duch and his wife, Pamela, of Millstone, NJ, and Dr. Michael R. Duch and his wife, Deborah, of Yardley, PA; his sister, Michalene Kruzicki; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass at 11 AM on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 1601 Derstine Rd., Hatfield, PA 19440, where friends may call for the viewing from 10-10:45 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to The Mended Hearts, Inc., www.mendedhearts.org. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.WilliamsBergeyKoffel.com.
