Edward Ronald Schnable, Sr., 86, a life-long resident of Souderton, PA, passed away Saturday evening, May 21, 2022, at Grand View Hospital in Sellersville, PA. Known as "Ron", he and his wife, Mary (Garges) Schnable, would have celebrated their 65 th wedding anniversary on June 30 th of this year.
Born December 4, 1935, in Souderton, PA, he was a son of the late Horace E. and Emma G. (Heimbach) Schnable and was a graduate of Souderton High School.
Ron served his country as a member of the United States Air Force stationed in Aviano, Italy. He then went on to a career as an automobile mechanic with J. J. Conroy in Doylestown, PA, and with Keyser-Miller Ford in Souderton, PA. Ron began his longest occupation with Alderfer Glass in Telford, PA, as a glazier in 1972, where he was employed for over 25 years.
Ron loved serving his community. He was a proud lifetime member of the Perseverance Volunteer Fire Company in Souderton, PA for nearly 70 years. He was active with the Fire Police and was a founding member of the North Penn Goodwill Service, Inc. of Souderton, PA. He also worked part-time as a police officer with the Souderton Police Department. Mr. Schnable was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Telford, PA as well as the Souderton-Harleysville Game, Fish & Forestry Association. He enjoyed coaching little league baseball in Souderton, PA for his son. Ron's greatest joy was conversation with friends and family. Most cherished of all was time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, E. Ronald Schnable, Jr. of Souderton, PA, Linette Marschall and her husband, Brad, of Souderton, PA, and Brian Schnable and his wife, Mary, of Barto, PA; six grandchildren, Elle, Aubrey, Matthew, Michael, Maggie and Hanna; and two great grandchildren, Rosalyn and Theodore. He is also survived by a sister, Ethel Brazes of Walnutport, PA.
He was preceded in death by three siblings, Dorothy Stockert, Emerson Schnable and Kermit Schnable; twin grandsons, Samuel and Jacob Schnable; and by his daughter-in-law, Heather Schnable.
An ice cream social in celebration of his life will be held Friday June 17, 2022 beginning at 2 o'clock at the Souderton Fire House 266 N. 2 nd St., Souderton, PA. 18964. For those desiring, in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to a charity of the donor's choice.
