Roberta Bates, age 80, of Lansdale, passed away on Thursday June 5, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter Clarence Bates, with whom she shared over 54 years.

Born December 7, 1944, in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late Robert L. and Mary (Heim) Smith.

Roberta went back to school at the age of 40 and completed her Associate degree, graduating in 1992 from Sacred Heart School of Nursing, receiving her LPN. She was employed by various nursing home facilities as well as an agency nurse providing care to terminally ill foster children. She also loved to read and paint.

She is survived by her children, Brenda McCabe and her husband, Owen, and Glenn Bates and his wife, Brooke; grandchildren, Owen McCabe III and his wife Alicia, Kelsey McCabe, Shannon McCabe and her husband Quy Le, Benjamin Bates and Zachary Bates; and eight great-grandchildren.

A graveside service for Roberta will take place at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Greenlawn Cemetery, at the corner of Allentown Road and Sumneytown Pike, North Wales.
