Robert W. Sweeney, 89, of Harleysville, formerly of Hatfield, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.  He was the husband of Jean L. Sweeney.

Born in Rockville Centre, NY, he was the son of the late James and Isabelle Sweeney.

Robert served in the United States Navy from 1952-1956.  He had worked as a director for Unisys.

Bob was an active parishioner of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Hatfield, where he sang in the choir.  He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus.  Bob was also involved with the Special Olympics as a skiing and skating instructor.  He was also a member of the Seniors Softball League.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three sons, Chris Sweeney of Philadelphia, Pat Sweeney of Harleysville, and Bob Sweeney of Quakertown.  He is also survived by a brother, Dave Sweeney of Homosassa, FL.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 12 pm on Monday, July 29, at the Peter Becker Community Chapel, 800 Maple Ave., Harleysville, 19438, where the family will receive friends from 11 – 11:45 am.  Words of remembrance and a Knights of Columbus service will begin at 11:45.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Peter Becker Community Benevolent Fund, 800 Maple Ave., Harleysville, PA 19438.
