Obituary

Robert E. "Bob" Bruce, of Bensalem, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on June 28, 1936, to Ida (née Jackowitz) and Robert C. Bruce, he is survived by his sister, Joan Donahue; his loving children, Joan Mirra (James) and Robert "Scott" Bruce (Monica); his grandchildren, James Mirra (Rebecca), Nicole Owen, Elizabeth Coughlin (Michael), Nicholas Mirra (Dana), Emily Bruce, Michelle Creedon (Michael), Frank Bruce, and Michael Bruce; as well as his great-grandchildren— James, Vincent, and John Mirra; Ryland and Mia Owen; Tom Ammerman; Emma Coughlin; Nicholas and Maximus Mirra; and Jackson Creedon. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary, in 2019.

Bob served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Peterson (DE‑152) from 1955 to 1958. Stationed in Key West, Florida, he trained in sonar operations and sailed in exercises near Cuba. His Navy years sparked a lifelong love of the sea and a deep pride in service. After his service, Bob worked as a hairdresser, a U.S. Postal Carrier, an elevator mechanic, and a New Jersey State Inspector. In his free time, he enjoyed boating, fishing, poker nights, shuffleboard, black coffee, hard pretzels, and watching old westerns on TV.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Bob's life on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 11:00AM to 12:00PM at St. Ephrem Church, 5400 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12:15PM, and Bob will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Bensalem.
