Richard "Dick" Rittler, age 93, of Harleysville, PA was called home to be with his Lord on Thursday, September 1, 2022.
Husband of the late A. Louise (Bachofer) Rittler (who preceded him in death in 2004) and son of the late Walter G. Rittler, Sr. and Margaret (Hobbs) Rittler. He was born in Bristol, PA and lived in Lower Bucks County for 58 years before moving to Georgia and returning to Pennsylvania in 2001.
Rittler graduated from Bristol High School and entered the United States Navy near the end of World War II. He served in naval aviation as a crewman on a Grumman TBM in Squadron VT-42.
Rittler attended Wharton School of Finance (Evening Division) while beginning his financial career. During his career he worked for Girard Investment Company, C.I.T. Corporation and New Jersey National Bank. He retired in 1983 as Vice-President and Manager of Consumer Credit after 28 years at NJNB. After his wife's passing Dick took his fun job driving for the Bergey Corporation.
Dick and Louise loved traveling having gone to Europe and spending many winter months in Hawaii. They also enjoyed winter Florida vacations.
Dick and Louise were the proud parents of four sons and daughters-in-law: Richard "Rick" and Linda of Lititz, David and Denise of Newtown, Curtis and Jennifer of Lebanon and Paul and Karen of Oxford, GA.
Also surviving are eight loving grandchildren and spouses: Kristie (Scott) Cudmore of Elkton, Maryland; Jill Hyson of Lansdale; Amy Mascia of Yardley; Bryan Rittler of Newtown; Justin Rittler of Newtown; Jamie (Jack) Jackson of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; Meridith (Mark) DiStefano, missionaries in Guatemala and Zachary (Erin) Rittler of Lancaster. Additionally, Dick had 19 loving great grandchildren.
Also surviving Dick is his devoted companion Karen Schauman of Harleysville.
Dick was preceded in death by his brother Walter G. Rittler, Jr., and his loving in-laws, Ferdinand and Ida Bachofer.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, September 12, 2022, at the Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home Inc., 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford, PA where the family will receive guests from 11:00 – 11:45 AM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Beechwood Cemetery, Hulmeville.
In lieu of flowers, donations to a church or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
