Richard B. Landis, 87, a resident of Lansdale, PA, for the last seven years, passed away Tuesday morning, September 27, 2022. He and his wife, Kathryn Faye (Algard) Landis, celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on September 25th of this year. They were former residents of Souderton, PA for over 60 years.
Born July 15, 1935, in Franconia, PA, he was a son of the late Linford and Kathryn (Bergey) Landis. He worked as a butcher for Edgar Landis, Daub's Market, R. B. Landis Meats as the owner, Ralph's Market, and Clemens Markets.
Mr. Landis was an active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Souderton, PA for many years where he was active with Bible study, Church Council, choir, and Men in Mission. He was also a member of the Souderton Kiwanis Club. His hobbies included baseball, woodworking, fishing, Monopoly, Mexican Train, cards, Philadelphia sports and golf.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Deborah F. Powis and her husband, Jeff, of Telford, PA, and Ellen K. Strogis and her husband, Steve, of Hatfield, PA; and a sister, Dorothy Haberly, of Hatfield, PA. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Christopher and Jeremy Powis, Michelle Bevan, and Derek, Dave and Adam Strogis; and four great grandchildren, Piper and Mackenzie Powis, and Catherine and Margaret Strogis.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Linford and James Landis; and a sister, Dolly Campbell.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service at 3:30 pm on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 69 West Broad Street, Souderton, PA, where family will receive friends from 2-3:30 pm. Interment will be private. For those desiring, contributions may be made in his memory to American Heart Association at www.heart.org or to the E-Meal Ministry at Emmanuel Lutheran church at the address above.
