Born August 24, 1941, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Howard and Elizabeth (Rishel) Hollingsworth.

Richard loved children and was totally devoted to his family.  After raising his son, he remarried and traveled to Paraguay to adopt two children.

He enjoyed several outdoor activities, including fishing, boating, horseback riding, and target shooting. He raced cars when he was younger and continued to enjoy the sport as a spectator. He was an animal lover, having had many beloved pets, including horses, cats, dogs, snakes, and turtles.

Richard listened to a variety of music and was particularly partial to bluegrass.  He loved the Philadelphia Folk Festival, initially attending as a spectator and later volunteering with the Upper Salford Fire Company, where he was a life member as a fire policeman.

Richard designed instruments for ABB, formerly Fischer and Porter, for more than 35 years.  In retirement, he enjoyed delivering auto parts for NAPA.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Raquel Marie Hollingsworth of Upper Salford, Alicia Ann Hollingsworth Ditter and her husband, George "Geordie" Ditter Jr. of Perkiomenville; his daughter-in-law, Terri Hollingsworth; his sister-in-law, Linda Hollingsworth; his grandchildren, Richard Jonathan Hollingsworth, Nicole Lynn Hollingsworth; and his great-granddaughter, Kieley Marie Jenkins.  He also has two beloved nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
