Obituary

Richard F. Fath, Sr., 90 (would have been 91 in two weeks), of Lansdale, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023.  He was the husband of the late Gertrude "Trudy" Fath.

Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late John and Eva Fath. Richard was a star athlete, being an All-State Defensive Tackle in high school and later played semi-pro football; he also participated in baseball, where he was a relief pitcher hurling fast balls. Richard served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and later in the Navy reserves. While in the Navy, Richard achieved a rating of Expert Marksman with a rifle and represented his unit in competition. He was a graduate of Widener University with a BS in Electrical Engineering and worked as an electrical and facilities engineer for over 40 years. Richard also was elected to the Souderton Area School Board where he served as the president for four years.

He is survived by four sons, Rich Fath Jr., Warminster, PA, Larry Fath and wife Lana, Lynchburg, VA, Scott Fath and wife Anne, West Palm Beach, FL, and Todd Fath and wife Veronica, Forest, VA; seven grandchildren, Katie Galley and husband Ben, Eric Fath and wife Tiffany, Scott E. Fath, Kennedy Stillman-Fath, Regan Stillman, Tyler Fath, and Brian Fath; and six great grandchildren, Daniel, Soloman and Eloise Fath, Lawson, Archer and Lyla Galley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Trudy; and his son, Eric.

The above outlines Richard's history and legacy but it does not address who he was as a man.  We called Richard, Dad and Grandpop.  He was a good father, grandfather and husband.  Dad was at practically all of the activities we, his children and grandchildren, participated in.  Dad supported us in our life's endeavors.  Dad, by example, taught us how to be good men and good husbands with character and honor.  Dad instilled in us and lived by the adage, 'treat people as you would want to be treated.'

Services for Richard will be private.
