Obituary

Peter Lewis Miller, 90, of Harleysville, PA, passed away peacefully on April 23rd in his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Peter was born on November 13, 1933, to Peter and Anna Miller in Kempsville, Virginia. After Peter graduated from Kempsville High School in 1953, he went on to study Theology at Eastern Bible Institute, in Green Lane, PA.

After graduating with a degree in Pastoral Studies, Peter became a licensed and ordained minister in the Assemblies of God.  His first ministerial role was in Southington CT as an Assistant Pastor, which began 60 years of faithful ministry.  Peter served as senior pastor at Lincoln Chapel in Lincoln Vermont, and, at Bethel Assembly of God in Portsmouth New Hampshire.  In his "retirement", Peter was an associate pastor at Family Worship Center in Lansdale, PA.

In 1955, Peter married the love of his life, Bettie Damiani in Woxall PA. Peter and Bettie went on to have three daughters, Lillia Marie, Lynette Aileen, and Tanya Joy.

Peter had a deep abiding faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment for ministerial service.  During his years as "Pastor Miller", he served as a Presbyter and, as the Assistant Superintendent in the Northern New England District of the Assemblies of God. In Portsmouth New Hampshire, Peter also served as the chaplain of juvenile court, chaplain of the police department, and board member of various nursing homes and associations. The seacoast area of New Hampshire was a special place for Peter. There, he and Bettie founded Bethel Christian Academy in 1979 that was later renamed Portsmouth Christian Academy, which operates today as a successful K-12 Christian school.

In addition to his wife Bettie, he is survived by his daughters Lillia Volz and her husband Larry, Lynette Lohmeyer and her husband, Charles, and Tanya Gianotti and her husband Mike. He also is loved by six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Peter was predeceased by his siblings, Henry, Andy, Ada, and Anna Mae.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Family Worship Center, 1000 Troxel Road, Lansdale, PA 19446, where the family will greet guests from 10:00 – 10:45 AM.
