Paul Gregory Shelly, 78, of Harleysville, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023.  He was the husband of Nancy West-Shelly, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage.

Born in Sellersville, he was the son of the late Paul Stover and Catherine Shannon Shelly.  Greg was a graduate of Souderton Area High School, class of 1964.  He was also a graduate of the University of Virginia, graduating in 1968 earning his bachelor's degree and in 1975 with his master's degree in business administration.

Greg was a multi-sport athlete for Souderton Area High School.  He was inducted into the SAHS Wall of Fame in 2010. Greg had the honor of being selected to play in the Big 33 Football Game in Hershey Pennsylvania. He continued to play football at the University of Virginia and after graduating he was a 10th round draft pick for the Cleveland Browns in 1969.

Greg returned to Souderton where he worked in the family business, originally Shelly and Fenstermacher in Souderton.  This company later grew to Shelly Enterprises.

He was a former Franconia Township Supervisor, Univest Bank Board Trustee and Grand View Hospital Board Trustee.  He was a former member of the Indian Valley Chamber of Commerce, Harleysville Jaycees, Franconia Township Planning Commission, Montgomery County Open Space Commission, and the Pennsylvania Lumberman's Association.  He was brother in the UVA Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon.

Greg was an avid outdoorsman.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting on an annual basis and was a member of several hunting and fishing clubs.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Zachary Shelly, a daughter Laura Shelly Lawson and her husband Andrew, three grandchildren, Evelyn, James and Theodore Lawson, two sisters Teesha Shelly Rudder and her husband James and Cassie Shelly Balzer and her husband George and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, December 1 at the Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, Inc., 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford, 18969, where the family will receive friends from 9-10:45 AM.

Interment will be private at Hillside Cemetery, Souderton.
