Paul M. Bingaman, 82, of Salfordville, PA, passed away on February 9, 2026. He was the husband of Evelyn Lewis Bingaman for 58 years.
Born January 15, 1944, in McVeytown, PA, he was the son of Ralph M. Dunmire and Edna M. Bingaman Yetter and stepson of Raymond O. Yetter.
Mr. Bingaman was a graduate of Rothrock High School, McVeytown, PA, received a bachelor's degree in elementary education (minor in social science) and a master's degree in education with specialization in reading, both from Shippensburg University, Shippensburg, PA. Mr. Bingaman took an additional 48 graduate hours during his educational career. Paul was a life-long learner and enjoyed attending classes at New Goshenhoppen Church and Living U classes at Souderton Mennonite Homes.
Mr. Bingaman, a dedicated educator, taught for 35 years and retired in 2001. He was employed by Central Dauphin School District, East Harrisburg, PA, from 1966-1968, Mechanicsburg Area School District, Mechanicsburg, PA, from 1968-1971 and Perkiomen Valley School District, Collegeville, PA, from 1971-2001.
Mr. Bingaman taught third-grade for five years, fourth-grade for eight years, middle school Title I reading/math for four years, and was an elementary school reading specialist for 18 years.
Paul was an avid reader, enjoyed oil painting, scherenchnitte (paper cutting), gardening and was a world-wide traveler. He especially enjoyed his travels to Australia/New Zealand, Hawaii, China, Egypt and Peru. Paul was a member of Church of the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, Harleysville, PA. He was a "founding father" of the church, starting in 1993. He served as an usher, lector, chalice bearer, endowment fund committee member, and was chair of the discernment/search committee to find a new vicar for the church from 2002-2004.
Paul was active in the National Education Association, Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA) and Perkiomen Valley Education Association. He belonged to PSEA Retired and PASR (Pennsylvania Association of State Retirees) upon retirement from teaching.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Brian Bingaman, Sr. (and his wife, Anne) and Bradley Bingaman; a grandson, Brian Bingaman, Jr. (and his wife, Ellie Murray Bingaman); and a great-grandson, Paul Michael Bingaman. He is also survived by his siblings, Brenda Deavor, James Rittenhouse, Jr., Anna M. French, Gloria Straub and Dennis Yetter.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday April 18 at Church of the Holy Spirit, 2871 Barndt Road, Harleysville, where the family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Endowment Fund of Church of the Holy Spirit, P.O. Box 575 Harleysville, PA, 19438.
