Neil J. Vincent, 81, a resident of Souderton, PA, for the last 20 years, passed away Monday, May 26, 2025. He and his wife, Marie (Cunningham) Vincent, would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on August 28th of this year. They were former residents of Quakertown, PA.
Born August 4, 1943, in Salem, NJ, he was a son of the late Francis and Anna (Bacon) Vincent. He attended Hancock's Bridge School and graduated from Salem High School, where he participated in track and baseball. He enjoyed the outdoors hunting and trapping and began working on dairy and crop farms at the age of 14, where he found his calling. He graduated from Delaware Valley College majoring in Horticulture Science and earned his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Rutgers University. In the summers of his college years, he worked for H. J. Heinz Co. loading boxcars and trucks and farmed peas and other crops on weekends.
Neil taught at the college level for over 40 years starting out as an assistant professor and rising to Vice President of Academic Affairs. During his career, he made presentations at national and international professional meetings, authored papers, and co-authored four plant patents. He attributed his success to support of lifelong friends, family, and especially his wife of nearly 60 years. She earned her well-deserved Ph.T. (Putting Hubby Through) from Rutgers.
Neil enjoyed fishing and crabbing at the Jersey shore. Along with his wife, he enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and to many countries experiencing diverse cultures around the world.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Karen Holland and her husband, Matt, of Oak Island, NC, and granddaughters, Lauren and Sarah. He is also survived by a sister, Barbara Nipe and her husband, Ron. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis and Paul.
A private Funeral Mass took place at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Hatfield, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the National Kidney Foundation at www.kidney.org. Arrangements are by Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, Inc. of Franconia, PA.
