Obituary

Michael John Matczak, age 64, of Sellersville, originally of Green Lane, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2022.

Born October 17, 1957, in Allentown, he was a son of Johanna K. (Kalb) and the late Anthony F. Matczak.

Mere words can never express how much Mike was loved and will be missed. Mike had a larger-than-life personality, with a uniquely wonderful sense of humor, and was "the life of the party".  He loved to laugh, especially with you. He was a prolific nicknamer, and everyone had at least one. He truly just wanted everyone to be enjoying themselves, having a good time, often cooking for and hosting everyone in his home.  He could also be content quietly sitting in front of a roaring fire he had built, watching TV.  He relished his time with his children and grandchildren and large, extended family.  He always welcomed company, and you could always count on Mike being there if you needed him.  Mike enjoyed golfing, listening to music, driving, a good snowstorm, his pets, wildlife, and sports.  His favorite sport to watch on TV was ice hockey.  Mike was looking forward to attending his daughter's wedding in October and will be there inside our hearts.  Mike over the years, also enjoyed hunting and fishing, snowmobiling, skiing and many more activities.  He was a passionate golfer and competed in tournaments, occasionally winning some, and played in a league at Macoby Run Golf Course for many years.  He was a member of Tall Spruce Hunting Club, serving as the Treasurer.

Mike graduated in 1975 from Souderton Area High School. He then went on to graduate from the culinary arts school at Johnson & Wales College in 1977.  He worked a number of years as a chef after graduation, before moving into the home construction business. Michael was an accomplished home builder, enjoying a long, successful career, most recently working as a Project Manager at Sal Lapio Homes building custom homes.

Michael is survived by his children Jessica Lee, Jonathan Michael and his wife Madeline, Sarah Jane and her fiance Cody; grandchildren Marissa, Sebastian, Anthony, Gage; siblings Gregory, Jane and her husband Brian; sister-in-law Lori and her husband Craig; nieces and nephew Christopher and his wife Maggie, Laura and her husband Nick, Kayleigh and her husband Brent, Emily and Grace; and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Anthony.
