Michael F. Galante, age 71, of Telford, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Mary Lou (Buchenauer) Galante, with whom he shared over 43 years of marriage.
Born March 4, 1952, in Philadelphia, raised in the Mayfair section, he was a son of the late Joseph F. and Nancy T. (Lardieri) Galante. He moved to Telford after marrying Mary Lou and lived in a log cabin on Cowpath Road until his passing.
Mike taught government and politics for over 30 years at Bishop McDevitt and Lansdale Catholic High Schools. He never missed voting in an election and proudly served for many years as a judge of elections. An avid sports fan, he umpired high school and Perkiomen Valley Twilight League baseball games and co-sponsored a team in the Donofrio Classic high school basketball tournament in his spare time. In his retirement he worked at the National Constitution Center, drove for Manheim Auto Auction and Ciocca auto dealerships, and traveled the world with Mary Lou. He rode a camel in Morocco, made arancini in Sicily, and saw the tulip fields of Holland.
In addition to his wife Mary Lou, Michael is survived by his children Jessica O'Neill and her husband Alec, Daniel Galante and his wife Diana, Matthew Galante and his wife Elizabeth, and Sarah Lewandowski and her husband Andrew; grandchildren Arden and Rosemary O'Neill, Marion and Christopher Galante, and Emma and Charles Galante; sister Lisa Cook and her husband Thomas; nieces Dena Schmidbauer and her husband Brad and Joanna Conover and her husband Ray.
