Obituary

Megan Leigh Thrash, age 37, of Abington, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. She was the beloved wife of Kevin James McElvaney, her husband of 6 years and partner of 13 years.

Born February 12, 1986, in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, she was the daughter of Eric Paul and Karen Mary (Choplinsky) Thrash. Later, the family moved to Harleysville, Pennsylvania, and Megan's unforgettable smile brightened the lives of her classmates at Souderton Area High School.

Megan attended Arcadia University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in International Studies. True to her degree, she loved to travel, having studied abroad in France and the U.K. and, later, taken trips across North and South America with her close friends. She loved animals dearly, from riding horses in her youth to volunteering with PAWS and other organizations throughout adulthood. She enjoyed baking and
made everything from scratch, including the best cookies and birthday cakes you've ever had. At Stokes Equipment Company, she helped grow a small family business with numerous HR initiatives, including paid parental leave, improved insurance options, company events, and many initiatives to make benefits more accessible. Megan started a community and YouTube channel for people with chronic/terminal illnesses and their loved ones, Terminal Yet Purposeful. She also served as a mentor to newly diagnosed cancer patients through the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by her brother Daniel Thrash, his wife Amy (Wolf), and their sons Landon & Jacob; sister-in-law Mary Kate Wright (McElvaney), her husband Patrick, and their daughters Maura & Addison; her brother-in- law Brian McElvaney and his daughter Brie; along with many loving cousins, countless friends (many of whom she considered family), and her three beautiful fur babies, Baxter, Nacho, and Milo, whom she loved like her own children.

Services for Megan will be held privately at a later date.
