Mary E. (Garges) Schnable, 84, of Souderton, entered into rest on December 9, 2023, surrounded by family. She was the wife of the late Edward R. Schnable. Mary and her late husband were married 64 years.
Born May 21, 1939, in Line Lexington, she was a daughter of the late Linford G. and Violet (Cressman) Garges and was a graduate of Pennridge High School.
Mary was most recently employed by Souderton Area School District in the Cafeteria. Prior to that, she enjoyed working with children at Morgan School Pictures, serving the community as Souderton Borough Tax Collector, and Leidy's Inc.
Mary's passions included decorating cakes for all occasions, baking pies, tending to her roses and flower gardens, and most importantly spending time with family and friends.
Mary lived in Souderton for 61 years after returning from Italy following her late husband's Air Force service. She was a lifetime member of the Souderton Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Mary enjoyed teaching Sunday school at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her children, Edward R. Schnable, Jr. of Souderton, Linette Marschall and her husband, William, of Souderton, and Brian Schnable and his wife, Mary (Sitarski), of Barto; her siblings Linford Garges, Jr., and James Garges and his wife, Ollie (Jones); sister-in-law Jackie (Mourar) Garges; sister Violet (Garges) and husband Clark Kulp; six grandchildren Elle, Aubrey, Matthew, Michael, Maggie, and Hanna; and three great-grandchildren Rosalyn, Theodore and Solomon.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, John Garges, sister-in-law Jeanette (Harley) Garges, daughter-in-law Heather (Young) Schnable, and twin grandsons Samuel and Jacob Schnable.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service on Saturday, January 13, 2024, promptly at 12:30 PM, at Little Zion Lutheran Church, 267 Morwood Rd. Telford, PA 18969. Luncheon immediately following the service in the church social hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Souderton Fire Company 266 N. 2nd St. Souderton, PA 18964, or to the charity of your choice in Mary's name.
