Mary M. Healy, age 78, of Annapolis, MD passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024, at St. Mary's Center Nursing Home in Lansdale, PA. Mary had spent the last 2 years there battling Alzheimer's disease.
Born on February 16, 1945, in Wilmington, DE., Mary was the daughter of the late P. Phillip Thatcher and Rita Gill Thatcher.
Mary graduated high school in 1963 from Ursuline Academy in Wilmington, De. continued her education and received her nursing degree in 1965 from Bon Secours School of Nursing in Baltimore, MD. She added to her nursing degree with certifications in Geriatrics and Care Management in 2010.
Mary worked primarily as a pediatric nurse in Newborn Intensive Care Units (NICU) for over 30 years at three different hospitals in Wilmington, specifically Wilmington General Hospital, St. Francis Hospital and Christiana Medical Center.
Mary was a member of the Bon Secours School of Nursing Alumni Association, where she was president for 25 years. She also was the president of the Legion of Mary for St. Mary's Parish, her local parish in Annapolis, MD.
Mary led her life in the service of others and of her Catholic faith. She regularly helped those in need and sacrificed her own time and expertise to provide care where most needed.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Healy, III (Elizabeth), and Jeffrey Healy, daughter, Rebecca Jones (Richard), grandchildren, Farrell Healy, Julia Healy, Sean Healy, Sabrina Grauel, Nicholas Jones, Rachel Jones, sister Jane Patricia Thatcher (Simon Volpini), brothers, Charles Thatcher (Linda), Michael Thatcher (Jeanette), David Thatcher (Connie), and Paul Thatcher (Joyce).
She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Thatcher and sisters, Catherine Thatcher and Rita Thatcher.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM on Friday, February 16 at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 1601 Derstine Road, Hatfield, PA. 19440, where the family will receive friends from 10-10:45 AM. Mary will be interned at Cathedral Cemetery in Wilmington, De.
