Obituary

Mary Burns, age 97, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Oct.31,2025 at Dock Woods, Lansdale, Pa.  She was born in Trappe to the late Emma (Godshall) Jones and the Reverend Ralph H. Jones.

Mary began her nursing career after graduating from Lankenau Hospital School of Nursing and went on to complete her Baccalaureate and Masters Degrees at West Chester University. She was employed as a school nurse at Souderton Area High School followed by Montgomery
County Community College where she was a nursing instructor in the Associate Degree Nursing Program. She has been credited for producing
nurses that excelled in their profession and is remembered for her emphasis: "caring is the heart of nursing".

Mary was a charter member of Penn Valley Brethren Church and was actively involved in Bible study classes, developing life-long Christian friendships. and mentoring women in her Christian Faith up until a year ago when her declining health limited her. She was a fierce prayer warrior to all.

She is survived by her son, Ron Burns (Karen) Harleysville, Pa.  Also surviving are 5 grandchildren: Tara Winter (Ken) Cedarville, Ohio, Brian Alderfer (Megan) Telford, Pa., Amanda Renteria (Alex) Chula Vista, Ca., Jenna Drum (Joseph), Souderton, Pa., Andrew Burns (Amy),
Harleysville, Pa.  15 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She is also survived by her youngest brother, Stanley (Nancy), Lansdale, Pa.

She was predeceased by her husband and childhood love, Samuel Burns in 1993 and her daughter Beverly Alderfer in 1995. She is also
predeceased by her oldest brother, Reverend Harold Jones, her sisters: Betty Landis, Ruth Landis, and Margaret (Peg) Schwartz.

A favorite Bible verse: John 14:6, I am the way, truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.

A memorial service will take place at 11:30 AM on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home Inc., 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford, where the family will greet guests from 10:30 – 11:30 AM. Interment will be private.
