Margaret May (nee Kelly) Clyde
"Marge"
Our dear sweet Mother was called home by the angels on December 9, 2023.
Marge was a resident at Brookdale Dublin Senior Living and under the care of Grand View Hospice at the time of her passing.
Born in the Kensington section of Philadelphia on June 19, 1929, Marge was the daughter of the late Irene (nee Koller) and Charles E. Kelly Sr. Her older brother, Charles Jr., began calling her "Sis" and from then on that is how family members referred to her. She attended the Kensington High School for Girls and graduated in 1947. Shortly thereafter, she began working for Curtis Publishing in Philadelphia as a file clerk.
In November of that same year, Marge married Frank Russell Clyde. The couple resided in Philadelphia until 1954 at which time they left city life and moved to the farmlands of Earlington, PA.
Marge was a homemaker and stay at-home mother for many years. In 1969 she began working at Merck, Sharpe, Dohme in West Point, PA as a packaging finisher and tour guide. She was employed by Merck for nearly twenty-five years, retiring in 1994. During her employment she earned two Pride in Quality Awards for her alertness and dedication. She was an active member of the Merck Retirees Club for many years until her health prevented her from attending meetings.
In the early 1980's, Marge moved to Lansdale. She loved gardening, decorating and re-decorating her townhome, reading, and taking her beloved dogs-Beau, Morrie, and Kelly on walks around the neighborhood. Music was always playing when you went to visit. She also loved to dance be it a slow dance, country line dancing or a jitterbug.
Marge was very patriotic, the flag always flying from the pole outside her front door. She believed in helping Veterans and was awarded a flag and certificate of appreciation in honor of her donations to the American Legion Post 234 Souderton.
Marge's love of family was her true devotion. Years ago, she stated that being a mother and grandmother was her greatest achievement and accomplishment. More recently, she became a Great Grandmother.
As a mother and a grandmother, she could be found cheering her kids on for whatever sport they were playing, proudly clapping as they graduated, be it grade school, high school or college, or smiling as they got married.
As Mom-Mom, she hosted the birthday parties, Easter Egg Hunts, Christmas Eve Celebrations and gathering all to see Santa arrive on the firetruck. She will be dearly missed by her family and her friends.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her brother Charles Kelly Jr., her husband, Frank Clyde, and loving companion of many years, John Magyar.
Surviving are her children, Kathleen Wallen (John deceased), Kennett Square, Carolyn Stavinski and husband Stan, Bear Creek, William Clyde and wife Rene, Barto, Terence Clyde and wife Beverly, Fleetwood. Also, a daughter in every sense of the term, Melissa Killough and husband Doug, Souderton.
Marge is Mom-Mom to April Messick, husband Fred, Preston Clyde, Nicholas Stavinski, Diana Stavinski, Clareese Clyde, Bonnie Clyde, JD Killough, Josh Killough, Bobby Mortimer, wife Kelly, Mitch Mortimer, wife Rachel, Odessa May, husband Nick and son Reid Glen. She is Great Grandmother to Finnian Messick.
Her family expresses their most heartfelt appreciation for the staff at Brookdale Dublin Senior Living-a Dementia and Alzheimer Facility and Grand View Hospice for providing the highest level of care with such love and compassion.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 15th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at The Wayside Chapel at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, PA 19002. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation hour at the chapel.
In lieu of flowers, she asks that donations may be made in her honor to a charity of the donor's choice, preferably one that honors and supports our Veterans, or one that supports the care of children or to Manna on Main Street Food Bank, Lansdale.
Arrangements are being handled by Williams-Bergy-Koffel Funeral Home, Inc.
