Sara Lydia (Bolton) Landis, 90, passed away early Saturday morning, January 1, 2022, at home on the family farm in Franconia Township, PA, where she had lived since 1962. She and her husband, Warren Bucher Landis, celebrated their 69 th wedding anniversary on October 25, 2021.
Born September 23, 1931, in Silverdale, PA, Lydia was a daughter of the late Charles and Alice (Landis) Bolton. She was employed by Ralph's Market in Lansdale for many years and later worked at Clemens' Kitchen.
Lydia was a life-long member of the Line Lexington Mennonite Church where she assisted with Vacation Bible School and was active in the Ladies' Sewing Circle. She followed her aunt's footsteps by making and selling Slap Jack candy. She taught first-year 4-H sewing for a season and volunteered during her retirement years at the Care & Share Thrift Shoppes. An avid vegetable and flower gardener, Lydia enjoyed sharing her bountiful produce with friends and family. She enjoyed shopping trips to Lancaster County, as well as camping and attending gospel concerts. She was devoted to her family, loved time with the grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was always anxious for the next family reunion.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Robert Landis and his wife, Cindy, of Ephrata, PA; three daughters, Joyce Leach and her husband, Wayne, of Royal Center, IN, Marilyn Miller and her husband, Fred, of Line Lexington, PA, and Irene "Renie" Landis, of Franconia, PA; a daughter-in-law, Caroline Landis, of Mohnton, PA, 19 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by three siblings: Edgar Bolton and his wife, Betty Ann, of Silverdale, PA, Irene Dorville of Arlington, VA, and Ray Bolton and his wife, Pat, of Kutztown, PA, and two sisters-in-law, Faye Bolton of Souderton, PA, and Jan Bolton of Climax, MI.
She was preceded in death by a son, Arden Landis, on October 22, 2020; three brothers, John, Charles, and David Bolton, and one sister-in-law, Thelma Bolton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Celebration Service at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 7, 2022, at the Line Lexington Mennonite Church, 80 Hilltown Pike, Line Lexington, PA, where family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. A private graveside service will be held prior to the Celebration Service. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Phyllis Sellars for her dedicated, selfless caregiving for Lydia during the past 5½ years. They also acknowledge and thank Jenni, from Ascend Hospice, who assisted with Lydia's care during her final days. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Operation Blessing at www.ob.org , or to Samaritan's Purse International Relief at www.samaritanspurse.org .
