Obituary

Louise (Kerber) Yoder, 90, passed away on September 8, 2022, in the skilled nursing unit of the Lutheran Community at Telford.  She and her beloved husband Charles H. Yoder celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in December.

Born at Grand View hospital in Sellersville, she was the daughter of Clarence Jones Kerber and Belnetta (Roth) Kerber.

Louise and Charlie married in Perkasie in 1951 and in 1954 they moved to the Bethlehem area. In 1960 they purchased a house built in 1860, and 7 acres in Bethlehem township, Northampton County.  They lived there until 1996, then they moved to north Bethlehem. Louise and Charlie met while working in his Nibs Shirt Factory in Telford.  After marriage and raising four children she worked at the Bethlehem Area Vo-Tech School cafeteria kitchen and later at the Northampton Area Community College in the mailroom and the office.  She also had a small business, which brought her great joy, baking and decorating cakes for special occasions including weddings.  She was an excellent worker and much valued by her employers, as well as by the organizations with which she volunteered.

Much of her volunteer work was in her church where she taught Sunday School, enjoyed working with the Youth Fellowship, Adult Fellowship Quilting, rummage sales, and social events.  She was a member of the Consistory for many years as a docent and crafter.  Her extended family enjoyed the many picnics she organized and hosted.  She was an excellent wife and mother.

For vacations she enjoyed outdoor activities and a yearly week at Promised Land or Fairview Lake with children and grandchildren.  They all had fun canoeing, hiking, and exploring the Poconos.  With her husband she enjoyed visits to many historic and natural sites in PA, trips all over the U.S., and 2 weeks in Switzerland visiting family origin sites.

She was easy to live with and enjoyed whatever she did.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sister, Ellen Johnson of Sellersville, brother, William Kerber of Safety Harbor, FL, with daughters, Sandra Kemmerer (married to Curtis Kemmerer) of Bethlehem, PA, Charlotte Berringer (married to Gary Berringer) of Erie PA, and Janice Summers of Mullica Hill, NJ.

She was preceded in death by her son, Edward Yoder, who passed away on January 2, 2021, from Covid complications at age 68, her brother Edward Kerber, and her sister Nancy Johnson.

A memorial service for Louise will take place at 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at St. Andrew's U.C.C., 615 E. Walnut Street, Perkasie, PA 18944, where the family will greet guests from 2:00 – 2:45 PM. Interment will be private.
