Louise E. Scheckenbach, 102, passed peacefully on Friday, February 4, 2022, at the Peter Becker Community in Harleysville, where she resided for over 20 years. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Charles and Olga Dauble, and later married the late Valentine Scheckenbach, Jr., on June 8, 1941. They lived in the Long Island Communities of Ridgewood and Hicksville, New York, prior to moving to Lansdale in 1958, where she raised her three children Jane, Val, and Tim. In 2000, she moved to the Peter Becker Community in Harleysville.
Louise was a dedicated member of Little Zion Lutheran Church in Telford. Her Bible was never far away, well read and a source of comfort for her. She was also an avid reader of fiction. Books were always piled by her chair waiting to be read. She also enjoyed participating in the activities at Peter Becker. Her earlier talents included making fine crochet doilies that will be a reminder of her for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Valentine (Val) Scheckenbach III and his wife, Linda of Souderton, and Timothy (Tim) Scheckenbach and wife, Lynn, of Harleysville. She is also survived by grandchildren, Kimberly Leinbaugh (Dan) of Carmel, IN, Michael Lemmon (Stacey Hilgemeyer) of Brownsburg, IN, Matthew Lemmon (Amanda), Westfield, IN, Amy Martin (Joe) of Coopersburg, Eric Scheckenbach of Skippack, Erin Scheckenbach, Philadelphia, & Emily Scheckenbach of Conshohocken; great grandchildren, Nathan, Nicholas, Chloe, Abraham, Brynn, Adelaide, Alex & Owen; a step great grandchild, Mackenzie; and a former son-in-law, Ralph Lemmon.
She was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Jane Lemmon, in 1998, and her husband, Valentine, Jr., in 2008.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of Peter Becker Community for her continued care and the dedication of the women of Little Zion for their cards and visits.
Services will be private.
