Louise R. Histand, 89, of Souderton, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 1, 2022.  She was the wife of Ray M. Histand, with whom she shared 68 years of marriage.

Born in Souderton, she was a daughter of the late Linford and Florence (Rice) Derstine.

Louise worked as a registered nurse for many years in skilled nursing at Souderton Mennonite Homes, where she was the director of nursing until retiring.

She was an active member of the Blooming Glen Mennonite Church, where she was a member of the choir, served as an elder and played the piano for Sunday school.  She was also a member of the Zion Choral Society and volunteered at the Care and Share Thrift store.

She also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, crocheting and made many counted cross stitch pictures for her family.

After retiring, Louise and Ray enjoyed traveling to Myrtle Beach, SC and Cancun, Mexico, and in later years, Sarasota, FL.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Donna Keller (Claire), Wendy Laureiro (Carlos), Andrea Bergey (Michael) and Steve M. Histand (Bronwyn); seven grandchildren, Daniel, Julie, David, Elena, Kyle, Connor and Jenn; 13 great-grandchildren and a brother-in-law, Ardie Moyer.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Sonja Moyer; and a brother, Ferrill Derstine.

A memorial service for Louise will be held at 2 pm on Friday, January 7, 2022, at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church, 713 Blooming Glen Road, Blooming Glen, PA 18911, where the family will receive friends immediately following the service.  Private interment will take place in the Blooming Glen Mennonite Church Cemetery.
