Lorene D. Nyce, age 94, a resident of Living Branches Towamencin Township, died Monday morning, February 10, 2025. Prior to living at Living Branches, she was a lifelong resident of Harleysville and widow of Harold C. Nyce, who died February 1, 1996. The couple was married 46 years at the time of his death.
Born at home in Harleysville, she was the daughter of the late Irvin F. and Lizzie (Moyer) Detwiler. Unable to finish high school, Lorene acquired a GED (high school equivalency diploma). As a young homemaker, she also worked as an inspector for Mar-Tek Manufacturing, Detweiler Road Kulpsville and for Peter Becker Community, Harleysville. Lorene and her late husband were members of Spring Mount Mennonite Church, Spring Mount, PA.
Lorene is survived by two sons: Philip and his wife Phyllis of Perkasie, Mark and his wife Heiki-Lara of Harleysville, Two daughters, Kathy, wife of Larry Keech of Sarasota, FL, Mary, wife of Randy Roth of Goshen, IN, son-in-law Galen Kauffmann of Goshen, IN, sisters-in-law Althea Detwiler and MariAn Nyce, one brother: Homer Detwiler, three sisters: Rhoda Reilley, of Fullerton, CA and her husband Joseph, Joyce Snedden of York, PA and her husband James, Ferne Detwiler and partner Dian Shivers, of Cape May Court House NJ, sister-in-law Kathryn "Cass" Nyce, 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Harold, Lorene was preceded in death by one daughter Cynthia Kauffmann, brothers Irvin Detwiler, Paul Detwiler, Wesley Detwiler and two sisters: Ruth Clemmer, wife of the late Norm Clemmer and Miriam Brockwell, wife of the late John Brockwell and sister-in-law Sandy Detwiler.
The family will receive guests Saturday morning, February 22, from 10-11AM at Dock Woods Chapel, 275 Dock Drive, Lansdale, PA 19446, followed by the service @ 11:00AM. Public burial will take place at Salford Mennonite Church Cemetery, Harleysville, aside of her late husband at 9:00AM. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made in Lorene's name to Liberty Ministries, P. O. Box 87, Schwenksville, PA 19473 OR to Dock Woods Community (memo line: Living Branches Benovelant Care Fund), 275 Dock Drive, Lansdale, PA 19446.
