Lois R. (Zuch) West, 98, peacefully entered the loving arms of Jesus her Lord and Savior on October 1, 2026. She was born in Swissvale, PA on August 10, 1928, to her late parents Ella Irene (Nicholls) and Reverend John Elvin Zuch, Sr.
With her father as a Pastor, Lois grew up in the church and she loved her Lord. She served as a Sunday School teacher where she served for many years but also had a passion for music. In fact, she taught her four children to sing as a quartet.
She was the loving wife of the late Arley J. West, Jr., for 27 years, and the loving mother of Reverend Wayne E. (Paula) of PA; Carol A. Fink of PA; Judith E. Troxell of AZ; and Mark A. (Sandra) of PA.
She was also the loving grandmother of 10 grandchildren and their spouses; loving gg mom of 30 great grandchildren plus their spouses; and loving great gg mom of 11 great-great grandchildren.
After marrying the love of her life, Arley, July 3, 1948, and starting their family, Lois enjoyed taking care of her family and was a homemaker until the untimely passing of her dearest husband Arley (October 1975). After his passing she held various administrative assistant positions until she finally retired in 2004 when she moved to the Telford area with her daughter and her family.
In her free time, she was an avid bowler, she loved to dance, play cards with her friends, do needlepoint, put puzzles together with family, and with her fierce competitive nature, she always tried to beat her family at any games they played. She also loved to spend time at the beach and to travel wherever she could.
Lois had a zest for life and was energized by her relationships, whether it was with her Lord, husband, children, grandchildren, extended family, friends, church family, and everyone she met. Lois will be especially remembered for her kindness to others, community service, quick wit and her great sense of humor. She had an infectious smile, and a twinkle in her eyes but a no-nonsense approach to people that endeared her to the many who had the blessing to cross her path in life. She will be deeply missed by so many.
Along with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her great-great grandchildren, she is survived by her sister, Norma Pejack, and her sister-in-law, Barbara Zuch. Preceding her in death along with her parents and husband were sister Irene Benjamin, brother Reverend John Elvin Zuch, Jr., sister Daisy Patterson, brother Robert Zuch, brothers-in-law Howard Benjamin, John McAboy, and Daniel Pejack, sister-in-law Emma Zuch, sons-in-law Bonner H. Fink and Clayton Troxell, and great-great grandson Mateo Grimwood.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11AM on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at Christ Reformed Church at Indian Creek, 171 Church Road, Telford, PA 18969. Visitation will begin at 10 AM, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. A luncheon will follow immediately in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made to NAIM (North American Indigenous Ministries) for her grandson Brian’s ongoing mission work with native Americans in Canada and the United States at www.naim.ca, Project 431 – Fink Ministry or mail a check to: NAIM, PO Box 499, Sumas WA 98295, or to a charity of your choice.
