Obituary

Lisa Anne Ruff, 59, of Harleysville, PA passed away on April 1, 2026

Lisa was born in Philadelphia on March 1, 1967.  She was the daughter of Therese (Murray) and the late Robert J. Ruff.  She graduated from Saint Joseph's University in 1989, and Mercer University School of Law in Macon Georgia in 1992.  Lisa grew up in Northeast Philadelphia before moving to Harleysville in 1998.

After law school, Lisa passed the bar and worked as an attorney in Georgia and Pennsylvania.  Lisa made a career change in the early 2000s.  She received a master's degree in library science from Drexel University.  Her first job as a librarian was at the Villanova University Law Library. Lisa then transitioned to the career she loved.  She became an elementary school librarian for the Wissahickon School District where she worked until her retirement in 2023.  Lisa's passion was getting books into the hands of her students and building a love for reading.  She prided herself on her Reading Olympic teams and their success over her years working in schools.

When Lisa wasn't working in the library, she was a traveler and adventurer.  She flew in a helicopter to the top of a volcano in Hawaii, landed in a river in Alaska on a seaplane, drove a jeep across the Moab desert, and road a raft down the Colorado river in the Grand Canyon.  There was no trip too small or adventure too big for Lisa.  She also loved skiing, biking and being outdoors.

Lisa also worked tirelessly to rescue animals, specifically (but not limited to) Dobermans.  You only had to go into her house and look at her refrigerator to see all the dogs she helped save over the years.  Most of those dogs would end up going home with Lisa where they ended up having a great life.  Luther, Willow, Duke, and Rocky were the light of her life.

In addition to her mother, Lisa is survived by siblings: Robert (Kristin), Francis, and Susanne Hanson (John).  Lisa is also survived by her nieces and nephews Jack (Jenn), Jessica, Brynne, Mollie, and Matthew.  This year Lisa was excited to become a great aunt to Theo.

The time of celebrating Lisa's life will be held at Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, Inc., 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford, 18969 on Thursday April 9, 2026, from 11:00-12:00.
