Obituary

Linda M. Hagey, 80, formerly of Franconia Twp., died on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at the Lutheran Community at Telford, where she was a resident.   She was the wife of the late Donald S. Hagey, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage.

Born in Sellersville, she was the daughter of the late William and Marie Clemmer.

Linda was a 1961 graduate of Souderton Area High School, where she excelled both athletically and academically.  Linda played four years of varsity field hockey, four years on the tennis team and three years of basketball.  She was also involved in many clubs and activities and was a member of the National Honor Society, served as an assistant editor on the Arrowhead newspaper and was an usherette.  She was one of four students selected to speak at her graduation due to having the fourth highest GPA in her class.  She attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania and graduated in 1965 with a BS in Education.

Following her college graduation, Linda taught social studies & history at Pennridge South Middle School.  Since 1970, she and her late husband, Donald, were the owner and operators of Transportation Services, Inc., as well as Hagey Coach and Tours from 1995-2020.  Linda served as the Secretary and Treasurer during that time and then as President after Don's passing in 2017.  Linda always had tremendous pride and respect for all of the hard working & professional employees at Transportation Services & Hagey Coach & Tours and was well-loved by all there.

She was a longtime member of Calvary Church of Souderton, where she translated her love of reading and books into serving as the church librarian for many years.  She also taught women's bible study, helped with summer vacation bible school and was a youth group leader alongside her husband, Don.  Linda and her late husband were members of the Pennsylvania School Bus Association, where Don was one of the founding members and served as the first President.

As a young woman, she loved to dance and taught at a local dance studio in Lansdale after high school.   She was actually voted "Best Dancer" (along with "Most Versatile") in her Senior class ballot.  Linda also enjoyed playing tennis, reading and traveling in their camper throughout the United States and Canada.  A favorite destination for her and Don was Alaska which they visited a number of times.  She also enjoyed seeing Broadway shows & taking bus trips throughout the US with Hagey Tours.  She and Don had a wonderful group of friends who often went camping or traveling together- or just getting together for some good food and conversation.  She enjoyed listening to music and often attended the Bucks County Symphony with friends.

She was an active supporter of the Grand View Health Foundation, the Alumni Association of IUP and the Lutheran Community of Telford, where she helped run the library in Harbinger Terrace.

She is survived by a daughter Tanya M. Hekler and her husband Robert of Clinton, NJ, and their two children Skylar and Cole; and a son Jesse L. Hagey and his wife Jennifer of Franconia Twp., and their son William.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 3, at Calvary Church of Souderton, 820 Rt. 113, Souderton, PA 18964, where the family will receive friends from 9:30-11 AM.     Interment will be private at the Calvary Church of Souderton Cemetery.
