Lena H. Hunsberger, age 92, a longtime resident of Perkasie, died peacefully at Souderton Mennonite Homes, Souderton, Pennsylvania, Wednesday afternoon, May 17, 2023. She was the wife of the late Lester G. Hunsberger, who died March 30, 2018. The couple had celebrated 65 years of marriage.

Born in Doylestown Township on January 30, 1931, she was the third of eleven children born to the late Daniel L. and Nora (Huddle) Histand. Lena graduated from Lancaster Mennonite High School, Lancaster, Pennsylvania in the Class of '49.

A homemaker, she also was employed by Pennridge High School, where she worked in the cafeteria for 20 years. She was a member of Perkasie Mennonite Church. Lena volunteered for Rockhill Mennonite Community (now the Community at Rockhill), Pennridge FISH (an agency who serves the less fortunate) and MCC Care & Share Thrift Shoppes, Souderton.

Lena is survived by five children, Gerald (Debra) Hunsberger of Oneonta, NY, Lois (Curtis) Yoder of Kalona, IA, Daniel (Christie Anne) Detamore-Hunsberger of Harrisonburg, VA, Leonard (Joyce) Hunsberger of Perkiomenville, PA, and Robert (Heidi) Hunsberger of Weyers Cave, VA, 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by two sisters, Nancy (Clarence) Kulp, Myerstown, PA and June Histand, Springhouse, PA, Lena was preceded in death by siblings Edna (Edwin) Breuil, John (Catherine) Histand, Mary (Ernest) Reinford, Herbert (Florence) Histand, Mabel (Ernest) Detweiler, Walter (Dale) Histand, Norman (Grace) Histand, and Robert (Sarah Ellen) Histand. She was also preceded in death by great-granddaughter Emery Mae Carter.

A Memorial Service will be held SUNDAY, May 28 at 2:00 pm in the Summit View Auditorium of Souderton Mennonite Homes, 207 W. Summit St., Souderton, PA where visitation will take place from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on SATURDAY, May 27. Burial will be private at Perkasie Mennonite Church Cemetery.
