Laverne H. Moyer, age 91, peacefully passed away at his home in Souderton, PA on Tuesday May 5, 2026. He was born at home, on his family's farm in Telford, on December 23, 1934. He was the son of the late Abram L. and Mamie M. (Heckler) Moyer. He married his beloved wife, Gloria Elizabeth (Godshall) Moyer, on January 1, 1955, sharing over 71 years of marriage.

Laverne, also known as Vern, had a life-long love of driving and worked in the transportation industry his entire career. He drove 18-wheeler tractor trailers for over 40 years, where he achieved numerous Safe Driving awards. He also drove tour buses and ended his career, at the age of 84, delivering cars for Bergey's Automotive.

He loved his cars. He enjoyed riding his lawn mower. He was also known for his love of country music.

Laverne and Gloria were members of Blooming Glen Mennonite church for 40 years, where they were married, and then, for the past 23 years, active members of Christ Reformed Church at Indian Creek.

He had two cherished children, Sherri Moyer, who preceded him in death, and Steven L. Moyer. His five grandchildren lovingly called him "Poppy."

Sherri and Todd Moyer of Telford have two sons, Brett (Lauren) Moyer, and Drew Moyer.

Steve and Kathe DeSanctis Moyer of Souderton have three children, Dana Moyer, Ingrid (Nicholas) Brown, and Luke (Melissa) Moyer.

Laverne was one of nine siblings. His sister, Betty Howell, lives in Bechtelsville. He was preceded in death by his siblings Walter (Ethel) Moyer, Abram (Betty) Moyer, Dorothy (Paul) Mininger, Ruth (Frank) Greaser, Arthur (Naomi) Moyer, Mary (Gerald) Souder, and Paul (Naomi) Moyer.

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Memorial services will be on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the Williams- Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home Inc., 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford. The viewing begins at 10am and the funeral at 11am. Interment will take place at Christ Reformed Church at Indian Creek.
