LaRene (Derstine) Barndt, 89, passed away Monday morning, May 30, 2022, at Lutheran Community at Telford where she lived since 2016. She was a former long-time resident of Souderton, PA until moving to Lake Wallenpaupack in 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nevin B. Barndt, in 2017. They were married for 63 years at the time of his passing.
Born May 5, 1933, in Sellersville, PA, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd and Lillie (Petrie) Derstine. She was a 1951 graduate of Souderton High School. She worked for many years at Union National Bank with commercial loans.
Mrs. Barndt was a member of Little Zion Lutheran Church in Telford, PA. She was also a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Perseverance Volunteer Fire Company of Souderton, PA. She enjoyed camping, time at the lake, and being with her grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons, Donald Barndt and his wife, Barbara, of Pennsburg, PA, and Ronald Barndt and his wife, Trish, of Bethlehem, PA. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Allison, Tom, Carolyn, Betsy, Lauren and Kaitlyn; and five great grandchildren, Lucas, Darcy, Carter, Paxton and Des. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Violetta Godshall.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at 11:30am on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at Little Zion Lutheran Church, 267 Morwood Road, Telford, PA, where the viewing will take place from 10-11:15am. If using GPS to locate the church, please use 799 Bergey Road, Telford, PA. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. For those desiring, contributions may be made in her memory to Spinnler Point Colony Association (SPCA) Sunshine Fund, 117 Shore Road, Tafton, PA 18464.
