Kathy L. Smyser, 77, of Lederach, passed away at her home on Sunday, November 28, 2021. She was the beloved wife of Clarence Michael Smyser, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage. Born June 20, 1944, in York, PA, she was the daughter of the late James and Dorothea (Lane) Chubb.
Kathy was a 1962 graduate of York Suburban High School and also attended Millersville University where she studied education. In addition to raising a family, she held a variety of jobs through the years. When her children were young, she taught nursery school and was a substitute teacher at Lower Salford Elementary School. Later she worked as a librarian at Ursinus College. In 1986 she earned her real estate license and worked at Realty World in Harleysville for several years until she retired.
She will be remembered best for her love of family, her laughter, her outgoing nature, and bubbly personality. Kathy was quite the talker, and the family joke was that she was born with a phone in her hand. She was great at making others feel comfortable and never met a stranger. She was generous and loved giving gifts. When her health was better, she enjoyed traveling and experiencing new places.
In addition to her husband, Kathy is survived by her daughter, Lisa Moyer (Rod); her son, Peter Smyser (Deanne); and her beloved grandchildren, Nathan Moyer and Juniper Cannon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and also a brother, James Chubb; and son, Gregory Smyser.
A memorial service will be announced after the holidays.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to American Diabetes Association
