Obituary

Josephine "Dolly" Quigg, 89, of Gilbertsville, passed away peacefully at home on June 7, 2025. She was the wife of the late Michael F. Quigg, with whom she shared 40 years of marriage.

Born in Rochester, NY, on March 4, 1936, Dolly was the daughter of the late Angelo and Amelia Rendina. She was also preceded in death by her younger brother, Angelo.

She is survived by her four children: Kathleen Solimeo (Joseph), Eileen Quigg, Patricia Yoast (John), and Michael Quigg (Wednesday Widmaier); her grandchildren: Jacqueline Solimeo (Brent Hammond), Adam, Ryan, Katelin Popejoy, Justin, Jessica, John Yoast IV, Carly Quigg; and her great-grandchild, Cameron, son of Jessica.

Dolly graduated from Dobbins High School in 1954. She spent many years as a devoted stay-at-home mother, lovingly raising her children. Later, she worked as a clerical employee for DISC, a defense logistics agency under the Department of Defense, where she made lifelong friendships. She was a longtime member of St. Bernard's Church and an active member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority.

Dolly and her husband raised their family in the Northeast section of Philadelphia, where she created a warm and welcoming home filled with tradition, good food, and love. Her famous roast beef, mashed potatoes and chocolate cake was her most requested family meal and loved by all.

After her husband's passing, Dolly moved in with her mother and later in life, she moved in with her daughter Tricia and her family, where she spent the last 23 years surrounded by family, friends and pets.

Dolly was the beloved matriarch of her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother who cherished her family above all else. She enjoyed classic television, Scrabble, Jeopardy, and any opportunity for meaningful conversation over a good meal. She was known for her sharp mind, her deep love of reading, and the tissues she kept tucked in every pocket and every sleeve.

Dolly will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. The memories shared with her will be treasured always.
