John J. Schneck, 98, of Green Lane passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.  He was the husband of the late Ruth Schneck, with whom he shared over 76 years of marriage.

Born in Pottstown, he was the son of the late John, Sr. and Martha Schneck.  John was a graduate of Pottstown High School, class of 1942 and attended Temple University.

John had worked in the designing of telescopes and developed optical tracking systems for NASA, the U.S. military and the intelligence community.  He was vice president of Questar Corp., New Hope, and was owner/president of Optical Techniques, Inc., and established Davro Optics, Lansdale.  He traveled extensively for business in the United States, France, Spain, Germany, South America, Singapore and Egypt.

He was a member of Christ Reformed Church at Indian Creek, where he sang in the choir, served on the Consistory and was a deacon.  John was an avid boater, fisherman and bowler.

He is survived by his daughter, Ingrid Mullen and her husband, Michael; five grandchildren, Troy Large, Heather Hunter, Michael Mullen, Kristie Hofmeister (Dave), and Jenna Gehman; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Marlene Marotta.

A private graveside service will be held at Mechanicsville Cemetery.  A public memorial service will be announced at a later date.
