John Michael McCleary, 79, of Souderton, PA and Deerfield Beach, FL, died on Wednesday, October 11, 2023.  He was the husband of Nancy (Ceccola) McCleary. They were married for over 36 years.

Born in Martinsburg, WV, he was a son of the late John and Beulah McCleary.

Michael was a graduate of Waynesboro High School, class of 1962 and a 1970 graduate of Pennsylvania Institute of Technology.  He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, from 1963-1967, on the USS Intrepid.

Michael worked as a mechanical designer for I.U. Conversion.  He also worked in the deli department for Acme and Giant Food Stores for 26 years, retiring from Giant.

He was a member of the American Legion.  Michael loved to design and build structures, most recently, he built a bar onto his shed to complete the back yard.  He enjoyed his place in Florida. In Florida he loved going to the beach to watch the waves and soak up the sun.  He also loved to spend time in his backyard and in the swimming pool. He and Nancy would enjoy evenings with family & friends playing Rummikub or heading out to a local restaurant for dinner.  Mike was a golfer and enjoyed going fishing. And every Sunday in the fall, you could hear Mike cheering for his favorite team, The Philadelphia Eagles.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Deborah Ann Wagenmann (George) and Maria Lyn van der Kleut (Randy), grandchildren, George Wagenmann, III (Ashley), Andrew van der Kleut (Kaitlyn-fiancée), Katey Wagenmann, Sean van der Kleut, Patrick van der Kleut, and Christian  van der Kleut, and a great-grandson, George Wagenmann, IV.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, October 19, at the Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, Inc., 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford, 18969, where the family will receive friends from 10-10:45.
