He was preceded in death by a son, John Jason (J.J.) McCausland in 1987. John resided the last 36 years with his wife, Sandy, in Harleysville, PA.

John honorably served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and was stationed in Europe.  He spent most of his life in the automobile business. He was Fleet Manager for Resources for Human Development in Philadelphia and retired in 2013 after 20 years. John loved summers in Ocean City, NJ first as a boy sailing his moth boat to later enjoying his kids and grandkids at the beach house. The years in between were filled with gatherings of friends and family at 2 Ocean Avenue, a home which over the years became synonymous with good times and good memories never to be forgotten.   John and Sandy were avid cruisers and had taken 23 cruises before the COVID shutdown in 2020.  John loved playing golf with The Toads, a group of senior men who played golf in the area weekly. He also played billiards with his group of friends at Generations of Indian Valley in Souderton.

John leaves behind his wife of 36 years, Sandra, and three children: Jeffrey Wilkinson (Jill) of Buffalo, NY, William McCausland (Lisa) of Novi, MI, and Rebecca Rutherford (Jason) of Hatfield,PA.  He was known as "Grandad" to his seven grandchildren: Kristin, Tyler and Jacob Wilkinson, Alexandra and William McCausland, and Victoria and Ryan Rutherford.  John is also survived by a brother, Reverend William McCausland ( Jane) of Pitman, NJ and two nieces, Melanie McCausland Fagan, and Melinda Taylor (Cordy). He will be sorely missed by all, including his goldendoodle, "Penny."
